Black Forest Cheesecake Brownies
When 3 classic desserts collide ~ the most luxurious brownies are born!
These Black Forest Cheesecake Brownies combine the decadence of my favourite Fudgy Brownies, with the creaminess of cheesecake, and the sweet/tanginess of cherries!
If you’re a cherry lover like me, these brownies are sure to satisfy your every craving!
Let’s make some Black Forest Cheesecake Brownies!
Start by preheating your oven to 350F. Line a 9 x 13” pan with parchment paper. Set aside.
For brownie layer:
Combine melted butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla in a large bowl. Slowly incorporate dry mixture (cocoa, flour, salt). Whisk until well combined. Set aside.
For cheesecake layer:
Combine cream cheese, sugar, vanilla, and egg yolk. Mix for 2-3 mins or until mixture is creamy and smooth. Set aside.
For cherry mixture:
In a medium saucepan, combine frozen cherries with sugar. Heat on medium-low until mixture bubbles. Stir with a spoon and split the cherries into halves/pieces. Continue to boil for about a minute. Add 2 tbsp lemon juice. Remove from heat and let cool.
Assembly time!
Spread ½ of the brownie mixture on the bottom of the pan.
Add dollops of the cream cheese mixture and remaining brownie mixture to continue to fill pan.
With a knife gently create a swirl pattern throughout the mixture.
Add dollops of cherry mixture on top of swirled mixture.
Bake for approximately 35-40 minutes. A toothpick will come out almost clean. (note: the brownies will continue to cook once you remove them from the oven so ~ slightly wet dough ~ on a toothpick is okay!)
Leave the brownies for at least 5 mins before removing them from the pan. Lift the parchment and brownies from the pan and allow them to cool completely on a wire rack. (these brownies can be chilled in the fridge for ~1h to set the brownie and make cutting easier)
Cut into squares and decorate with additional chopped dark chocolate and/or icing sugar!
Enjoy!

Notes
- Don’t have frozen cherries? No problem! These brownies can also be made with dollops of a tart cherry jam/compote in place of the homemade reduced cherry mixture (these kinds of jams are often found in the international section of your local grocery store or in European food markets)
- Chopped chocolate and a dusting of powdered sugar are a fun way to make these brownies even more elegant!
