They are a “love”-ly spin on my Fudgy Brownie recipe! (pun intended)

Lets make some Happy Heart Brownies!

Preheat oven to 350F (325F convection). Line a 9″x9″ baking pan with parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl, mix together melted butter, cocoa, and sugars (brown and granulated).

Add vanilla and eggs. Mix/Whisk together.

Add flour, espresso powder and salt. Stir until combined.

Add mixture to the prepared 9″x9″ baking pan.

Bake in oven preheated to 350 (or 325 Convection) for 21-24 minutes, until edges are crisp, centre is no longer jiggly, and a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out with moist crumbs attached. Let cool for 5 mins in baking pan.

Continue to cool on wire baking wrack

Melted Milk Chocolate Frosting

Combine roughly chopped milk chocolate with hot heavy cream. Let sit for 2-4 minutes.

Mix until smooth (place in microwave for an additional 10 seconds, if not all chocolate is melted, mix one final time until smooth).

Allow mixture to rest on the counter until thickened to spreadable consistency.

Top with sprinkles!!

Let set on the counter or in the fridge, cut, and enjoy!

**To achieve the heart pattern on a brownie, insert a small heart cookie cutter into one brownie square and remove the heart. Sprinkle only the heart with icing sugar and reinsert onto the same brownie!**

Notes

Sofia’s Tips:
  • If using convection to bake these brownies, reduce the heat by 25F to 325 and bake for ~22 minutes
  • These brownies will continue to bake once removed from the oven and will become cake-like if in the oven for too long.
  • You are looking for wet crumb on a toothpick inserted into the centre.
  • If making this recipe in a 8×8” pan – bake for 25-30 minutes.
  • This recipe can be allowed to set in the fridge once topped with chocolate!
