Hot Chocolate Mug Cake

Warm. Soft. Chocolate-y. This Hot Chocolate Mug Cake tastes just like a cup of hot cocoa in cake form. The batter warms in seconds, uses only 1 packet of hot cocoa, and rises into the softest little chocolate cake!

Ingredients
 
 

  • 1/4 cup Milk
  • 1 tbsp Oil (Canola or other light vegetable oil)
  • a splash of Vanilla Extract
  • 1 package Hot Chocolate Mix approx. 1/4 cup of hot cocoa mix
  • 3 tbsp All-purpose Flour
  • 1/4 tsp Baking Powder
  • a pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp Semi-sweet chocolate chips

Toppings

  • Whipped Cream
  • Shaved Chocolate/Mini chocolate chips/Chocolate sauce
  • Mini Marshmallows

Instructions
 

  • Add milk, oil, and vanilla extract to a mug (12 oz or larger). Microwave for 30 seconds.
  • Add hot cocoa mix, flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Mix with a fork until combined.
  • Add chocolate chips and stir into the batter.
  • Microwave on high for 1 minute. Allow to cool for another minute. (note: you can check for readiness after cooking by inserting a toothpick into the centre and noticing a few crumbs stick to it)
  • Top with whipped cream, mini marshmallows, and/or chocolate chips/shavings/sauce and enjoy!
