My Simplest Caramel Sauce is silky, creamy, and only requires 3 ingredients to make! It is a must-have recipe when you’re in the kitchen and the perfect addition to ice cream, cupcakes/cakes, and cheesecakes!
1packageSoft Caramels (such as Werther's)approximately 20 caramels, unwrapped
2tbspwater
1/3cupCream (heavy cream or half-and-half)
pinch of salt
Instructions
Place your unwrapped caramels in a medium saucepan with water. Heat mixture over medium-low heat until the caramels begin to melt. Stir frequently.
Add cream and continue to stir until mixture is smooth (~1 min). Add pinch of salt. Stir one final time.
Remove from the heat and poor into a container to cool.
This caramel sauce can be used while warm or cooled and stored in the fridge until use (up to 3 weeks).
Notes
Sofia’s Tips:
This caramel will continue to thicken as it cools!
It can be used while warm or out of the fridge
To regain a pourable caramel consistency out of the fridge, simply place caramel sauce in a heat-proof container and microwave/heat for a few seconds at a time until desired consistency is achieved
