A Quiet Note on the Viral Trend

This viral 2-ingredient Japanese cheesecake trend doesn’t involve a baked cheesecake, instead it’s a yogurt based, no-bake dessert that’s been (not so) quietly taking over social media! The original version uses Greek yogurt paired with coconut cookies, layered and softened inside to create a thick, cheesecake-like texture without any mixing or stress. It’s minimalist, playful, and intentionally low effort; the kind of recipe that feels more like a gentle idea than a set of rules. My version leans into that same ease, swapping a large yogurt for “mini” individual cups of flavoured yogurt and whatever cookies you already love. It is such a flexible and forgiving desserts!

Before You Bake: FAQ

Is this really cheesecake?

They are certainly cheesecake-inspired! The texture and flavour are a nod to Japanese cheesecake, however they are much lighter, creamier, and protein rich.

Can I use any Greek yogurt flavour?

Absolutely! The traditional recipe was made with plain yogurt however this recipe works with any flavoured Greek yogurt. I recommend using a stirred variety to lose the stirring step however you are always able to simply stir a fruit bottom yogurt before placing in your cookies.

Do the cookies have to be exact?

Not at all. This is an inspired and stress-free recipe. Use whatever is in your pantry. I just recommend that the cookies are upright and there is a small bit of space left in the yogurt before you add your next cookie.

Is this kid-friendly?

Yes!! It’s simple, fun to assemble, and easy to customize. Perfect to make with kids.
