Gooey Oreo Rice Krispie Treats {No-Bake}
Chewy. Gooey. Delicious. These Gooey Oreo Rice Krispie Treats are a tasty twist on your childhood favourite Rice Krispy squares! Speckled with crushed chocolate sandwich cookies and marshmallows, these Gooey Oreo Rice Krispies are simple to make and irresistible. Coat them in chocolate and crushed Oreos and you’ll have the most delicious snack to share with family and friends!
Can I use different types of Oreos in this recipe?
Yes! You can use any flavour of Oreo for this recipe! It can be fun to experiment with classic flavours like Golden Oreo, Double Stuff, Mint Oreo or the seasonal ones like Birthday Cake, Cosmic Oreo, Cinnamon Bun, or Maple.
Do I need to crush my Oreos before adding them to the Rise Krispies?
Crushing Oreos into smaller pieces helps distribute their flavour throughout your Rice Krispie treats! You can easily crush Oreos in a food processor (if you have one) or place them in a sealed zippered plastic bag and crush them with a rolling pin.
Why won’t my marshmallows melt?
Marshmallows that are TOO OLD, will not melt as they should for these Rice Krispie treats! It is best to use marshmallows that are soft and squishy, fresh out of the package.
Can I add other mix-ins to this recipe?
Absolutely!! You can add extra chocolate chips, sprinkles, or even nuts for added flavour, texture, and crunch!
How do I cut my Rice Krispie treats without everything sticking together?
Its sooo hard sometimes!! I recommend generously buttering your knife (and of course pan!) prior to cutting to ensure that you’re not stuck with a sticky marshmallow mess!
To make this recipe you will need:
- Puffed Rice Cereal – such as Rice Krispies
- Mini Marshmallows – 1 bag of any brand will do!
- Chocolate Sandwich Cookies – such as Oreos (10 cookies for the filling and ~5 for on top!)
- White Chocolate – about 1/2 cups!
- BUTTER *don’t forget butter for greasing the pans/bowls/knife as well as for the marshmallow filling!
- Vanilla Extract
- Salt
Let’s make some Oreo Rice Krispie Treats!
Generously grease an 8 x 8 baking pan with butter. Set aside.
Crush your chocolate sandwich cookies in a sealed zippered bag with a rolling pin (note: alternatively you can pulse in a food processor).
In a large pot, add marshmallows and butter (note: be sure to reserve 2 cups of marshmallows for mixing in at the end). Melt over medium-low heat, mixing constantly. Once marshmallows are melted, remove from heat.
Add vanilla extract and salt, stir.
Add puffed rice cereal, crushed chocolate sandwich cookies, and remaining marshmallows.
Stir fairly quickly until all ingredients are evenly distributed and then transfer to your greased baking pan. Using a piece of plastic wrap that has been buttered, press the Oreo Rice Krispy Treats into your prepared pan.
Melt your white chocolate in a microwave safe container until 3/4 of chocolate is melted. Continue mixing your chocolate until all is melted. Pour melted chocolate over surface of Oreo Rice Krispie treats.
Sprinkle additional crushed Oreo pieces on top of melted chocolate layer.
Allow to cool at room temperature until surface feels firm (~1 hour).
Cut into 12 to 16 pieces and enjoy!

- 1/4 cup Unsalted butter + extra for greasing pan!
- 6 cups Puffed Rice Cereal such as Rice Krispies

- 1/2 cup White Chocolate
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1/2 tsp Flaked Salt

Optional Decoration
- Funfetti: Add your favourite, colourful sprinkles to your Rice Krispie Treats either during mixing, just after pressing into baking pan, or after coating in melted chocolate!
- Chocolate Drizzle: Drizzle your melted chocolate over top of surface of Rice Krispie treats in baking pan. Let chocolate set, cut, and enjoy!

- Looking to add colour to these treats?! Gel food colourings can be added to the melted marshmallow mixture prior to mixing with the puffed rice cereal
- Why are my Rice Krispie Treats so HARD? This is usually because too much cereal has been added for the amount of marshmallow in the recipe. To avoid this, be sure to measure your cereal amounts!
- How do I prevent the marshmallow from sticking to me? I recommend generously buttering all baking pans, knives, hands, and plastic wrap to ensure you don’t stick to your Rice Krispie treats! As the treats set, they can be wrapped in plastic wrap and unwrapped when ready to enjoy them!
- These Gooey Oreo Rice Krispie Treats can last in an air-tight container for 2-3 days at room temperature or 6 weeks frozen.Â
