Frequently Asked Questions About Baked Pears

What are the best type of pears to use for this recipe?

For this recipe, I used Bosc pears but either Anjou or Bosc pears work well because they hold their shape during baking. They also have a beautiful balance of sweetness and texture!

Sofia’s Baking Tip:

How to tell if your pears are ripe enough:
Gently press near the stem. If the pear gives slightly under your thumb, it’s ripe and ready for baking!

Is this recipe Gluten-free?

Yes it is! No substitutions are necessary.

Can I substitute honey for another sweetener? (plant-based)

I love to also make this recipe with maple syrup, when I have it on hand, for another lovely Autumn switch up! You can also use agave syrup, date syrup, or even brown sugar as a plant-based substitute for honey.

Can I make Baked Pears ahead of time?

Absolutely! Simply bake your filled pears and store them in the fridge (up to 4 days). Before you enjoy them, microwave them for ~30s or until they are warm and fragrant.

What can I serve baked pears with?

Ooh I love to serve my Easy Baked Pears with yogurt (for snacking throughout the day) or vanilla ice cream (for a nice little dessert and cozy treat!)
